Environmental Policy

Statement of Policy

Sekari is aware that its business activities have an impact on the environment. In light of this it has a commitment to be aware of the consequences of its activities and acts to minimise the impact of its operations on the environment, prevent pollution and to fully comply with all relevant environmental legislation and other requirements from clients and stakeholders.

In order to accomplish these environmental goals, Sekari is committed to ongoing staff training and a programme of continuous improvement. The implementation of a sound environmental management system (EMS) is encouraged in all Sekari staff and will conform to the requirements of the international standards.

As an electronic business, Sekari has a relatively small impact on the environment, but strives, nevertheless to reduce this impact still further.

Sekari?s Successes to date:

  • Flexible working practices - staff able to work from home via VPN access
  • Implemented a sound waste management system through recycling paper materials.
  • Reduced printing practices with all proposals, company profiles and other collateral only sent digitally.
  • Business cards and other printed material printed on 100% recycled paper.
  • Energy Saving Office lights
  • Air conditioning is programmed to come on working hours only
  • Meeting Room Signage to remind users to switch off lights and Air Conditioning after use
  • Printers automatically programmed to print double sided and machines on energy saver mode

Sekari?s Long term Goals:

  • Form a Green Team Committee responsible for achieving the goals
  • Implement a sound EMS into the business
  • Investigate energy usage of all servers, computers and hosting providers with the view of introducing energy saving practices and environmentally considerate hosting providers.
  • 10% less carbon output from Sekari by Jan 2011
  • Continuous reduction year on year,

Performance against the long term goals will be regularly audited and the results reviewed along with this policy statement before setting new targets for the next EMS cycle to ensure it stays appropriate to the companies' activities.

All employees of the company are required to support this policy, and follow the new processes and control measures of the EMS as appropriate. Sekari will communicate regularly on environmental performance and planned future initiatives, and welcomes both suggestions and voluntary participation in EMS projects.

This policy statement will be made available to stakeholders including staff, all customers, all suppliers and service contractors on our site, and to the public.
