Search Engine Optimisation Tips You Should Use for The Upcoming Holidays

Holiday season is just around the corner, meaning it’s about time you get your marketing campaign into gear and up

Holiday season is just around the corner, meaning it’s about time you get your marketing campaign into gear and up to scratch if you want to ensure you make an impact on holiday shoppers and stand out from the crowd.

There are specific ways SEO can help you to make that impact on holiday shoppers at this time of year, and we are going to explore three that you should start working on right away:

Write content around your holiday specials

Each industry, no matter what products they sell or services they provide, are promoting numerous specials during the festive seasons that have shoppers’ heads turning, and these special provide important opportunities that you and your brand should not miss out on.

Most of the time, websites choose to make cosmetic changes to their website during the holidays, however, written content is more important, especially for SEO purposes.

While adding eye-catching visuals such as illustrations of Christmas trees and shiny baubles to your website makes your website look festive, there is a need to solidify those changes with content in your back end with content that is SEO optimised.

You can do so by creating content around the specials you are running on your website, including gift guides and amazing deals that should not be missed.

One idea would be for a camera shop to write content around their “greatest deals for avid photographers this Christmas”, or for a toy shop to write content around “the best gifts to get your children for their first Christmas”.

Create a PPC campaign targeting Christmas keywords and specials

Building on the first point we mentioned, brands need to make the necessary changes to their SEO PPC adverts, targeting holiday related searches instead.

At this time of the year, the target buyer changes even though the target demographic for a product doesn’t. This only means there is a need to create a campaign that focuses on the target buyers being the avid photographer’s wife or another family member, instead of the avid photographers themselves.

By changing your PPC adverts and acknowledging the change in the shopper, you will be able to capture a larger audience than before, ensuring that the avid photographer’s wife comes across the advert you want her to find.

Optimise your images with alt tags so users can find your products in Image Search

Consumers like to see what the product they are wanting to purchase looks like, so it’s important to use clear and professional visuals that will not only catch the consumer’s eye, but make them want to follow through on their purchase.

What many marketers do not know, is that images are another place where they can continue adding their holiday SEO keywords into their website.

By inserting the relevant keywords to your images in the form of alt tags, it increases the likelihood of your images showing up in search engine image results for those terms.

The alt text is used for search algorithms, making it yet another tool that marketers should take full advantage of at this time of the year.

It takes time and effort to implement SEO changes for your website, which is why it is a good time to start now!

By adding more and more holiday-themed and SEO optimised content to your website, you will see a drastic change in both its traffic and the sales recorded.
